Postcard From Sicily

We’ve seen princes elope
Heard the death of a pope
And I’d ask
What’s for tea babe ?
I know there’s things I don’t know
I’ll take time, while they’ll take hope
To hitch to a star,
I live foolishly
Like that postcard from Sicily
I don’t like to complain
I’ll stand naked in the rain
To be the joke, and the joker
I take no prisoners, yet
There’s a jail cell in my head
Where I can paint The Starry Night
And there’s a mountain in me
On a postcard from Sicily
There’s an ocean, you know,
In that the box with the note that said
‘Please stay forever’
It ain’t a ring that keeps us close
It’s the promise of ‘you know me’
You know me!
Like the stain on your coat
And that postcard from Sicily
Love has come to an end
If you can’t understand that you will fail
Love will come again
When you take back the coin from the well
Love is a friend
Love is a friend
I have such trouble to sleep
Yet I see dreams when you speak
In them I play the saviour
Holding your hand in the tide
As the moon pulls you by
And I say ‘damn, join the queue!’
There ain’t nothing for free
Not a postcard from Sicily
Just to walk down the creek
Just a kiss on the cheek
That is all that I’m asking
How greedy am I
To want proof I cant deny
Of tomorrow’s rain!
Maybe I am all that I’ll be..
Just a postcard from Sicily
